Stretch

Stretch mark, in medical terms can be referred to as scarring of the skin. Their can be various probable reasons for stretch marks. These marks are often associated with puberty stage in boys and girls, and they are also very commonly found in people who are obese and people who are into regular rigorous exercises and muscle building. One of the probable reasons for stretch marks can be disrupting of Collagen i.e. connection tissue because of the rapid growth of the body in case of pregnancy, puberty and body building, but this is not the complete reason.

The appearance of stretch marks on the body in above mentioned stages in more associated to hormonal changes occurred in the body during puberty, pregnancy and rapid exercise sessions. They appear as red and purple lines on the body and eventually fade out. The affected body parts are left soft and empty.

Stretching plays its role in the appearance of the stretch marks in determining the place and direction where they are going to appear and not solely as the cause for their appearance. Normally stretch marks can affect any part of the body but the most common areas are the fat banks of the body like hips, butt, and stomach below belly button and thighs. They only give body a bad look otherwise they do not affect the normal functioning of the body at all. The hormone that is responsible for triggering stretch marks is glucocorticoid.
